What it is
Outreach is the enterprise sales engagement platform for outbound at scale. Sequences, dialer, email tracking, AI-assisted writing, and a deal intelligence layer that overlays the CRM. The default choice for $50M+ ARR sales orgs running structured outbound across many reps.
Why it shows up in RevOps stacks
- Built for scale. Hundreds of seats, complex permissions, deep Salesforce integration, audit trail, and an admin UI that survives org changes. Most $50M+ ARR teams running outbound have it deployed.
- Sequence sophistication. Branching logic on opens/clicks/replies, A/B testing on send times, dialer integration with click-to-call, and reporting that ties activity to pipeline.
- Outreach Kaia (AI assistant). AI-assisted writing, smart sequence suggestions, conversation summaries. The AI is fine but not the reason to buy — buy for the engagement infrastructure.
Pricing
- Custom only. Typical pricing runs $130-180 per seat/month, with platform/onboarding fees on top.
- Minimum commitment usually 25-50 seats; not viable for sub-$10M ARR teams.
- Annual contracts; mid-term seat reductions are hard.
Best for
- $50M+ ARR B2B SaaS with 50+ outbound reps
- Sales orgs that need deep Salesforce coupling, complex permissions, and audit trails
- Teams where outbound is a primary channel and the engagement layer is mission-critical
Watch-outs
- Total cost of ownership is high; budget for both seats and the admin/RevOps time to operate it
- For sub-$25M ARR teams, Apollo or Salesloft are usually a better fit; for AI-native teams, newer entrants (Default, RegieAI) compete on the AI layer specifically
- Migrating off Outreach is non-trivial — sequence assets, reporting, integrations all need rebuilding. Plan a 90-day transition if switching.
