What it is

Hireflix is a purpose-built one-way video interviewing platform — candidates record answers to pre-set questions on their own schedule; hiring teams review asynchronously. That is the whole product. There is no live interview module, no AI scoring engine, no ATS built in. The market positions this as the affordable, single-purpose alternative to HireVue’s enterprise suite, which starts at $35,000+/year. Hireflix’s small-company plan starts at $75/month billed annually, and the feature set — unlimited interviews, GraphQL API, GDPR/SOC 2 compliance, 18-plus language support, automatic transcription — is identical at every paid tier. The only variable between tiers is the company-size band used for pricing, not feature gating.

Why it shows up in recruiting stacks

  • Transparent flat-rate pricing. At $75-$150/month all-in for companies under 250 employees, Hireflix is the lowest published price in the async-video segment. Every feature, including API access and white-label branding, is included. Teams running five to fifteen concurrent roles get the same capability as teams running fifty.
  • Zero friction for candidates. No app download, no account creation, no scheduling coordination. Candidates record from any device — the link works in a browser. In a market where candidate drop-off on assessment steps routinely exceeds 30-40%, the no-signup experience is a measurable conversion advantage.
  • One-month free trial, no credit card required. Hireflix offers a 30-day trial at full feature access. That is unusual in this category — HireVue does not offer one; Spark Hire, starting at $249-$299/month, does not either.
  • GraphQL API and webhook support. For TA engineers who want to trigger interviews from their ATS programmatically or push completed interview data downstream, the API works at every tier without an enterprise add-on fee.

Pricing reality

Hireflix publishes flat annual pricing with no seat fees:

  • Small (under 50 employees): $75/month billed annually, ~$900/year
  • Medium (50-250 employees): $150/month billed annually, ~$1,800/year
  • Custom (250+ employees, agencies, high-volume): contact for quote; the site says “best rates guaranteed”

All tiers include unlimited positions, unlimited interview responses, and unlimited team seats. Startups and NGOs under two years old get 20% off. This is among the most accessible published pricing in enterprise HR software.

Best for

TA teams and hiring managers at companies with under 250 employees — particularly in-house recruiting functions running 10-100+ job openings per year — who want to replace early-round phone screens with an async-video step without buying an enterprise platform. The sweet spot is a lean TA team (1-5 recruiters) that needs a tool they can configure, launch, and share with hiring managers in under an hour, with ATS integrations into Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, or BambooHR already mapped.

Do not buy Hireflix if you need AI scoring, structured-assessment science validation, or ranking models. The platform does not score candidates — it presents recordings; evaluation is entirely human. Skip it if you’re an enterprise with compliance requirements around AI hiring tools (NYC LL 144, EU AI Act): Hireflix has no AI assessment component, so there is nothing to audit, but the vendor support model for large contracts is unproven. Also skip it if your hiring volume requires a live interview workflow — Hireflix has no live-interview capability at all.

Versus the alternatives

HireVue is the entrenched enterprise incumbent in video interviewing. It combines async video with live interviews, AI-driven assessments, IO psychology validation, and deep ATS integrations — at $35,000+/year. Pick HireVue when you’re at 1,000+ hires per year, need AI assessments with validated psychometric backing, or operate in a segment where procurement requires an enterprise contract. Pick Hireflix when your hire count is measured in dozens or low hundreds, and you want async screening live in a day, not a quarter-long implementation.

Spark Hire is the direct mid-market competitor and the faster-growing entrant in the SMB-to-mid-market band. Its video-only plan starts at $249/month ($2,988/year) — roughly 3× Hireflix’s entry price — and adds live video capability, behavioral assessments, and AI summaries. Spark Hire’s full hiring suite (ATS + video + assessment) runs $335-$499/month. Pick Spark Hire when you need live interview capability alongside async, or when a behavioral assessment layer matters; pick Hireflix when async-only covers your workflow and price is the constraint.

Willo (willo.video) is the closest feature and price analog: async-only, flat-rate, SMB-targeted. Willo’s starter plan also comes in under $100/month. The differentiator is integration depth — Hireflix’s native list (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, BambooHR, Recruitee, SmartRecruiters, Workable) is broader; choose based on your ATS.

Watch-outs

  • No AI scoring means evaluation load stays with humans. Hireflix presents video responses; it does not score, rank, or flag candidates. At 50+ async responses per role, reviewers report fatigue and inconsistent rubric application across hiring managers. Guard: build a standard scorecard in a spreadsheet or your ATS before launch; require hiring managers to score each response before discussing, not after watching together — this keeps calibration honest and prevents recency bias from dominating panel reviews.
  • Emails land in spam with Outlook-heavy organizations. Multiple reviewer reports cite Hireflix invitation emails routing to Outlook spam or junk folders at companies running Microsoft 365 as their email stack. Guard: before rolling out to candidates, send a test invite to a colleague on the same email domain; if it routes to spam, set up email forwarding from a custom domain using Hireflix’s custom-domain feature or whitelist Hireflix’s sending domains with your IT team.
  • No live interview capability. If a role requires a structured live panel as part of the process — common in executive hiring or technical screen-to-panel flows — Hireflix cannot support it. You’ll need a second tool for that step. Guard: map your full interview process before purchasing; if any stage requires synchronous video, plan for a second vendor or use a general-purpose tool (Zoom, Google Meet) for that leg rather than expecting Hireflix to cover the full loop.
