What it is

SpotDraft is a contract lifecycle management platform for in-house legal teams — templates and intake, approval routing, a searchable repository, e-signature, and analytics on renewals and bottlenecks. The piece that separates it from the rest of the CLM field is VerifAI, its AI contract review add-on, which redlines a counterparty draft against your playbook inside Microsoft Word rather than in a separate web app. VerifAI is also the reason Qualcomm Ventures put $8M into the company in a Series B extension in January 2026, at roughly a $380M post-money valuation — nearly double the prior $190M — bringing SpotDraft’s total raised to $92M. The company is headquartered in Bengaluru with a New York office and 300+ staff, and reported 700+ customers, close to 50,000 monthly active users, and over a million contracts processed annually, with contract volume up 173% year over year. Named customers include Apollo.io, Panasonic, and Whatfix.

  • Review happens in Word, where the reviewer already is. VerifAI applies playbook positions and risk flags as tracked changes in the desktop Word editor. Legal teams that have already failed one CLM rollout usually failed it on adoption, and “log into the platform to redline” is the step people skip.
  • It bills on users or contract volume. SpotDraft prices on either meter. For a small legal team pushing high contract counts — or a larger team with modest volume — that flexibility usually beats a pure per-seat CLM, because you pay against whichever axis your organization is actually shaped by.
  • The on-device path is real, if early. At Snapdragon Summit 2025 SpotDraft demonstrated VerifAI running end to end on Snapdragon X Elite laptops: embeddings, clause extraction, risk scoring, and applying the edit all executed locally, with the document never leaving the machine. Login, licensing, collaboration, orchestration, and portfolio-scale analytics still require the cloud. For defense, pharma, and other teams that cannot send drafts to a hosted model, no other CLM has taken local inference this far.

Pricing reality

SpotDraft does not publish tier prices — the pricing page confirms only that plans are priced on users or contract volume, with implementation, a dedicated account manager, and 24/7 support included. Anonymized transaction data from Vendr puts the average SpotDraft contract at $25,277 per year (median $25,278), and bands it by deployment size: roughly $15,000–$35,000 for 5–15 users and up to 500 contracts a year, $35,000–$75,000 for 15–30 users and 500–1,500 contracts, and $75,000–$120,000+ above that. That entry band sits below where Ironclad and ContractPodAi typically land, which is SpotDraft’s core commercial argument. Treat VerifAI as a separate line item, not an included feature — third-party buyer guides put the add-on in the $5,000–$15,000 per year range on top of the platform. SpotDraft also runs a switching offer that covers the remainder of your existing CLM contract, which is worth naming in a negotiation even if you don’t take it.

Best for

Mid-market in-house legal and legal ops teams — roughly 5 to 30 seats — with a high volume of repeatable commercial agreements (NDAs, MSAs, DPAs, order forms) who want playbook-driven review and a contract system of record from one vendor, and who need adoption to survive contact with a sales team that lives in Slack and a lawyer who lives in Word. It is a stronger fit than a review-only tool when you also need intake, approvals, and a repository, and a stronger fit than an enterprise CLM when a six-figure floor and a multi-quarter implementation would kill the project.

Versus the alternatives

Ironclad is the default comparison and the stronger platform for complex workflow design and a large legal org — pick it when approval logic across many business units is the hard part and budget is not the constraint. Icertis is the procurement-and-supply-side pole; pick it when contracts are a sourcing and obligation-management problem, not a sales-velocity problem. Juro undercuts SpotDraft at the small end with a lighter product — pick it when you’re under about 10 seats and want speed over configurability. Ivo is the fastest-growing entrant in AI contract review specifically, having raised a $55M Series B in January 2026 — pick it when review-and-redline is the entire job and you already have a repository you’re happy with. The honest status quo is a shared drive, a signature tool, and email; choose SpotDraft over that when contract turnaround time has become the bottleneck sales complains about.

Watch-outs

  • On-device VerifAI is a limited release, not a feature you can buy today. SpotDraft describes it as available to a limited customer set, with broader rollout gated on AI PC hardware adoption and prioritized toward regulated sectors. Guard: buy the cloud product on its own merits, and if local inference is your reason for signing, put eligibility, the hardware list, and a target date in the order form rather than accepting it as roadmap. For data residency you can actually use this quarter, ask about regional API hosts instead — those exist now.
  • Local inference is markedly slower than cloud. SpotDraft’s co-founders have put on-device throughput at about one-third of cloud speed. Guard: during the pilot, benchmark wall-clock review time per contract on the exact laptops your team will use, then decide per contract type which agreements are sensitive enough to justify the slower local path.
  • Two pricing meters mean two ways to be quoted badly. Being priced on users or on contract volume is an advantage only if you model both. Guard: build both quotes yourself before the call, anchor to the $25,277 average contract value above, and take a competing quote from Ironclad or Juro into a quarter-end negotiation.
  • The growth and speed figures are vendor-reported. The 173% volume growth, the 700+ customer count, and VerifAI’s “15x faster review” claim all come from SpotDraft, not an independent audit — and the company’s own site currently cites 500+ customers, so even the vendor’s numbers disagree across pages. Guard: gate the contract on a metric you measure in a paid pilot — median turnaround time on your own agreements, and a senior lawyer’s grade on a sample of VerifAI’s redlines.
  • There is no official MCP server. SpotDraft ships a versioned REST API, webhooks, and a clickwrap SDK, but no vendor-published MCP server; the ones on GitHub are unaffiliated side projects. Guard: if you want contract data in an agent workflow, budget for building against the REST API, and don’t plan around a community MCP repo you’d have to maintain.
