What it is

Entegrata is a prebuilt data lakehouse for law firms. It pulls data out of the systems a large firm already runs, including time and billing, finance, HR, CRM, intake and document management, and maps it into one legal data schema. That schema has about 5,000 fields, up from 3,500 at its March 2025 seed round. The result is a single cleaned record per client, matter and timekeeper that reporting, other systems and AI tools can all read from. It runs on Microsoft Azure with Databricks underneath, either hosted by Entegrata or deployed in the firm’s own Azure tenant. It ships a library of Power BI reports built for law firm operations.

The company was founded in 2023 by Tom Baldwin, formerly CIO and chief knowledge officer at Cadwalader, Reed Smith and Sheppard Mullin, and lists New York as its base. It raised a $4.5M seed round in March 2025 led by Chicago Ventures, with OnDean Forward and The LegalTech Fund. It holds SOC 2 Type II, with continuous compliance monitoring through Drata.

  • It answers the build-or-buy question most large firms are stuck on. On August 25, 2026, around ILTACON, Entegrata said it had more than doubled its roster to 20 firms in 12 months. Recent additions include Cleary Gottlieb, Wilson Sonsini and Kilpatrick Townsend, alongside earlier clients Mayer Brown, Vinson & Elkins and Pillsbury. Baker Botts picked it in July 2026 after a formal build-versus-buy consulting engagement. Its CIO, Rick Boulin, called every in-house pipeline “time and talent taken away from delivering new capabilities.”
  • The connector count is the product. Connectors went from 15+ in March 2025, to 33 in March 2026, to more than 50 by August 2026, when an iManage integration was added. The site lists Elite 3E, Aderant, Intapp Intake, Deal, Walls and Terms, NetDocuments, Litera, Salesforce, Workday, Dayforce, ADP and Microsoft Graph. Each one is a pipeline your data team does not have to write and maintain.
  • Metrics gives finance one definition per number. Launched August 24, 2026, Metrics is a governed semantic layer with more than 100 prebuilt revenue measures, including realization, utilization, WIP and revenue per lawyer. It keeps version history and an audit trail, and it publishes the same calculation to Power BI, SSRS, Excel, line-of-business systems and AI tools. Because it runs on Databricks, refreshes take minutes rather than an overnight batch. This is the fix for the partner meeting where three reports show three realization rates.
  • It is the data layer your AI projects will need. Entegrata says it ingests nearly a billion rows a day across its clients’ lakehouses, and it is building an MCP server so AI clients can query that governed data directly. See what an MCP server is.

Pricing reality

Quote-only, verified quote-only on September 15, 2026. Entegrata publishes no rate card, and no third-party directory we checked lists a price. Budget for two lines, not one: the Entegrata subscription, and the Azure and Databricks resources the lakehouse runs on. If you deploy in your own tenant, those resources live in your Azure subscription, so ask in the first call who pays for compute and storage.

The number to hold the quote against is the cost of building it yourself. One 2026 enterprise lakehouse guide budgets $600K a year for a three-person data engineering team, and $1.2M or more once an architect, governance staff and training are added. A law-firm build on Microsoft Fabric through a consultancy such as DataWarrant still leaves you owning the pipelines after go-live. The working rule: if the Entegrata quote plus compute costs less than the one or two data engineers you would otherwise hire to maintain 10+ source pipelines, buy.

Best for

CIOs, CFOs, and pricing and analytics leaders at law firms of 100+ lawyers (Legaltech Hub lists Entegrata’s customers in the 100–499 and 500+ bands). It fits firms that run a Microsoft and Azure estate and have a mix of Elite 3E or Aderant, Intapp, iManage or NetDocuments, and an HRIS that has never been reconciled. It is the right call when the job is one governed firm dataset feeding Power BI now and AI tools later, and when the alternative is hiring a data engineering team.

Skip it if you are under roughly 100 lawyers and only need financial dashboards off your practice management system. A packaged BI tool will get you there for less. Skip it too if your firm has standardized on Snowflake or AWS, because Entegrata is Azure-only.

Versus the alternatives

BigHand Business Intelligence (powered by Iridium) is the established packaged-BI choice. BigHand bought Iridium Technology in 2022, and Iridium BI works with Aderant Expert, Elite 3E and Elite Enterprise. Pick it when the need is financial reporting (revenue, profitability, matter budgets) off one practice management system. Pick Entegrata when the need spans HR, DMS, CRM and intake data too.

Litera Foundation is the installed incumbent for client, matter and experience data at large firms. It collects data from time and billing, docketing and CRM for knowledge, experience and relationship management. Pick it when the goal is experience search and pitch support. Pick Entegrata when the goal is a general-purpose data layer that finance, IT and AI teams all build on.

Practice-management vendors’ own data paths are moving fastest. Elite’s Data Connect puts governed 3E Cloud data into Microsoft Fabric, and Intapp has partnered with Snowflake since June 2025 so firms can analyze firmwide data alongside DealCloud. Pick one of these when a single vendor’s data is 80% of what you report on. Pick Entegrata when no single vendor owns most of your data.

If none fit, because you have a strong in-house data team and a Fabric or Snowflake standard already, build it. Use the Metrics idea anyway: define realization and utilization once, in one governed place, before you build a single dashboard.

Watch-outs

  • It is a young vendor with a small reference base. Entegrata was founded in 2023, has 20 firm clients and has disclosed only a seed round. Guard: ask for two references on your practice management system, and write data portability into the order form. With tenant deployment, confirm that the lakehouse tables stay in your Azure subscription if you leave.
  • You pay two bills. The subscription is only part of the cost, and Databricks compute scales with the rows you ingest and how often you refresh. Guard: get a compute estimate at your data volume in writing, and set Azure budget alerts from day one.
  • Metrics is brand new. It launched on August 24, 2026, so few firms have run a full fiscal year on it. Guard: pilot 5–10 revenue metrics and reconcile them against your practice management system’s month-end numbers before you retire any existing report.
  • The MCP server is roadmap, not product. As of August 2026 it was announced as in development, and it had no release date. Guard: build the business case on Power BI and Metrics outputs that ship today, and treat AI-client access as upside.
  • It is Azure-only. A firm whose data team runs Snowflake or AWS takes on a second cloud to manage. Guard: if your warehouse standard is Snowflake, price the Intapp–Snowflake route or an in-house build before you take the Entegrata demo.
