What it is

Holly is the company-side agent inside HiringAgents.ai (formerly HollyHires), an AI-native recruitment agency built around two agents. Holly screens inbound applicants, runs short video intros, and syncs shortlists to your ATS; a second agent, Hunter, sources passive candidates over email and LinkedIn. The pitch is blunt — “agency quality, automation speed, software pricing” — aimed squarely at the 20-30% placement fee a traditional staffing agency charges. The London company (co-founders Jacob Claerhout and Boris Gordts) has raised roughly $1.5M in seed funding from Tioga Capital, Portal Ventures, and Syndicate One.

The old “Holly, virtual recruiter for founders” framing is gone. Today Holly is one half of an agency-style service sold to any team that hires — from a self-serve free tier through enterprise VMS deals.

Why it shows up in Recruiting stacks

  • Two motions, one ATS. Free inbound tooling (AI careers page, AI vetting, video intros) handles applicants you already attract; paid sourcing brings net-new passive candidates you would not reach. Both drop shortlists into Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, or one of a claimed 40+ ATS integrations.
  • Pay only for interview-ready candidates. The sourcing model charges per credit — one credit buys one vetted candidate matched to a specific role — instead of a recruiter salary or a percentage of first-year pay.
  • Video intros over cover letters. A 60-second candidate video is the screen signal that survives when both sides use AI to write and read applications.

Pricing

Now published and usage-based — a change from the old custom-only model:

  • Free — $0. AI careers page, AI vetting, video intros, rich profiles, ATS integration for your inbound funnel.
  • Starter — $199 per credit. Adds active sourcing, email and phone interaction with Holly, and reference checks; self-serve.
  • Growth — $149 per credit. Volume discounts, priority candidate delivery, onboarding support.
  • Business — custom. High-volume credit bundles, dedicated account manager, enterprise security (SOC 2, SAML SSO, SCIM, data residency).

A credit is refundable in full if you reject the candidate within 48 hours with quality feedback. At $149-$199 per interview-ready candidate, cost-per-hire tracks your interview-to-offer ratio: five interviews per hire at $149 is about $745 in sourcing credits — well under a 20% placement fee on most salaried roles — but the math inverts if your acceptance rate is low.

Best for

  • Small-to-mid recruiting teams that want agency-style sourcing without a retainer or placement fee — pay per interview-ready candidate, scale up or down by role.
  • In-house talent teams already running an ATS (Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever) that want to bolt AI vetting plus passive sourcing onto it rather than buy a separate sourcing seat.
  • High-volume and VMS-driven enterprise hiring where speed-to-shortlist (Holly quotes 48 hours) matters more than a named human recruiter.

Watch-outs

  • Early-stage vendor. Roughly $1.5M seed, founded 2023, still proving the agency-replacement model at scale. Guard: start on the free tier or a small credit batch on one non-critical req, and use the 48-hour reject-with-feedback refund before you commit volume.
  • Per-credit cost compounds at volume. Fine for occasional hiring, expensive when you interview many candidates per hire. Guard: model credits × price ÷ your real interview-to-hire ratio against a flat sourcing tool (Juicebox, hireEZ) before scaling past a few reqs.
  • Autonomous screening carries bias and compliance exposure. AI vetting and video-intro scoring at scale fall under hiring-AI rules. Guard: run a bias audit and candidate notice per NYC LL 144 and AI screening bias; for EU candidates, check EU AI Act obligations.
  • Name churn. hollyhires.com and hollyhires.ai now redirect to hiringagents.ai, and “Holly” names only the coordinator agent, not the whole product. Guard: confirm with stakeholders which piece you are buying — inbound tooling, sourcing credits, or both.

Alternatives

  • Gem — pick it if you want to own outreach and candidate CRM in-house on a seat license rather than buy done-for-you sourcing by the credit.
  • hireEZ / SeekOut — pick these established sourcing platforms if you want to drive Boolean and semantic search over a large profile database yourself, with diversity and talent-intelligence reporting.
  • Juicebox / GoPerfect — the faster-growing autonomous-sourcing entrants; pick them if you want natural-language search plus autopilot outreach but prefer a per-seat SaaS price to Holly’s per-interview credit. For a fully custom loop, teams also build sourcing on Claude Skills.
