What it is
Dialpad is a cloud communications platform that sells four products on one stack: Connect (business phone and messaging), Support (contact center), Sell (outbound dialer with live coaching), and an AI Agent that answers voice and digital conversations. It is privately held and has built its own speech recognition and language models since before generative AI was a category, which is why transcription, call summaries, and sentiment come on its cheapest phone tier rather than as an upsell.
What changed in 2026 is that Dialpad now sells a no-code agent platform. At Enterprise Connect on 3 March it shipped Agent Studio (build voice and chat agents with connectors and custom actions), Proving Ground (test an agent against scenarios and see projected ROI before launch), Guardian (a runtime supervisor that flags data-exposure and compliance risk), and Agentic Analytics. June and July added workforce management scorecards, adherence, cost allocation, and Credits Analytics for transaction-level spend. Aragon Research named it a Leader in its 2026 Globe for SMB intelligent contact centers on 7 April.
Where it fits
- One vendor for the company phone and the support line. Teams that run sales, support, and back-office calling on the same numbers use Connect for everyone and add Support seats only for the queue. The AI Agent then answers on those same numbers, so there is no second telephony contract to wire in.
- The AI Agent handles narrow, data-backed requests. Order status, scheduling, routing, account lookups. Dialpad’s published proof is anonymous: one organization above 70% resolution on 90,000+ calls a month, one ecommerce customer above 80% on order-status requests, neither with a baseline. Its headline figures (775 million AI Recaps, 450 million AI CSAT scores) measure usage, not resolution.
- Integrations cover the systems support and sales buy for. Native connectors for Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, ServiceNow, Intercom, and Slack, a REST API, and a Gemini Enterprise integration announced 17 June. An official hosted MCP server exists in early access, requested through your CSM; it is not generally available.
Pricing reality
Connect, billed annually: Standard $15 per user per month (1-user minimum, AI transcription and summaries included) and Pro $25 (3-user minimum, adds CRM integrations and more numbers). Month-to-month is $27 and $35. Enterprise is quote-only with a 100-user minimum.
Support (contact center) is quote-led; third-party guides checked in 2026 report $80, $115, and $150 per agent per month annually for Essentials, Advanced, and Premium. Agentic AI requires Support Advanced or Premium plus Digital Contact Center, so the cheapest contact-center tier cannot run it. The AI Agent bills per conversation from a separate credit pool, only when the agent retrieves data or completes an action. Dialpad’s public rate card lists $1.99 per voice conversation and $0.99 per digital conversation; the pricing page routes credit purchases through sales, so expect negotiated rates to differ.
Real numbers: a 10-person company on Connect Standard is about $1,800 a year. A 20-agent support team on Support Advanced with 2,000 billable AI voice conversations a month is about $75,000 a year ($27,600 seats plus $47,760 at rate-card credits), before Digital Contact Center, numbers, and international calling. At a 3-minute average call, $1.99 per conversation works out to about $0.66 per minute, more than twice Aircall’s bundled voice-agent rate.
Best for
Support and RevOps leaders at 20 to roughly 300 seat companies who want one vendor for company-wide phone, a mid-size contact center, and an AI agent on the same numbers, and who value transcription and summaries on every seat.
Skip it if your agent must work in languages beyond English today, or if you only need a phone system for a 5-person team: the agent stack’s knowledge base and Skills Mining are English-first, and requiring Support Advanced plus Digital Contact Center makes the AI tier poor value under about 10 agents.
Versus the alternatives
Microsoft Teams Phone and RingCentral hold the largest installed bases in business cloud phone. Pick Teams Phone when the company already lives in Microsoft 365 and phone is a utility. Pick RingCentral when you need video, fax, and broad global number coverage across the whole company. Pick Dialpad over both when AI transcription, coaching, and a contact center on one admin console matter more than meeting features.
Against Aircall: pick Aircall when the buyer is a sales or support team under about 150 seats and per-minute voice-agent pricing beats per-conversation pricing at your call length. Past roughly 200 agents with WEM and outbound compliance needs, step up to Talkdesk, Five9, or Genesys Cloud.
The fastest-growing entrant is Retell AI, with specialists PolyAI and Parloa at the enterprise end. Rule: run Dialpad’s native agent on your top five call reasons for 60 days. Buy a specialist only when your calls need multi-step authenticated transactions or non-English coverage and its measured resolution rate pays for a second contract.
Watch-outs
- Guardian warns but does not block. Admins can publish an agent with Guardian warnings still attached, and Dialpad’s Agentic AI Terms put responsibility for outputs and configured actions on the customer. Guard: make a clean Guardian report a release gate in your own change process, and require human review on any agent action that writes to a CRM or billing system.
- Proving Ground forecasts are unvalidated. No public data compares its pre-launch ROI projections with live results. Guard: treat the forecast as a hypothesis, log containment, transfer rate, and repeat contacts for 30 days post-launch, and tie any annual credit commitment to those measured numbers.
- Credits bill in edge cases you will not expect. A conversation can stay billable after transfer to a human if the agent already called a skill. Guard: turn on Credits Analytics from day one, reconcile weekly against transfer logs, and set a monthly credit cap before go-live.
- Feature availability varies by tenant. Skills Mining was documented in June as an English, voice-only early-adopter program needing 100 eligible calls per category, while marketing describes it as omnichannel. Guard: get every feature you are buying for named in the order form with its availability status, and demo it in your own tenant, not a sandbox.
