What it is
Typeform is the form builder that made one-question-per-screen forms the norm: founded in Barcelona in 2012, it built its name on lead-capture and signup forms that people actually finish. In 2026 it pushed into CX work with two launches. Growth Flow (14 May 2026) turns a response into an automated journey: AI lead enrichment, contact mapping, Slack alerts, email and SMS follow-ups, scheduling and signatures. Research Flow (9 June 2026) runs AI-moderated surveys and interviews across text, voice and video, recruits participants from panels or your own customer list, and returns transcripts, themes, sentiment and highlight reels.
So it now spans three products: the classic builder, a lead-to-journey tool, and an AI research service. For a CS team, the first is a survey tool with the best respondent experience in the market. The third competes with research platforms, not with SurveyMonkey.
Why it shows up in Customer Success stacks
- Completion rate on customer-facing surveys. Onboarding check-ins, churn-reason forms and beta sign-ups that a customer reads on a phone are where the conversational format earns its price. Typeform sends the respondent one question at a time with logic branching, and it looks like your brand on Plus and above.
- An official MCP server. Typeform runs a hosted server at
https://api.typeform.com/mcp(OAuth 2.0, streamable HTTP) with tool groups for forms, insights, contacts and automations, plus listed connectors for Claude and ChatGPT. A CSM can ask “what did detractors say about onboarding this month” without an export. Every account sees the same tool list, and plan limits are enforced when a tool is called, so a call can fail withPAYMENT_REQUIREDon a lower tier. - It feeds the analysis tools you already run. Enterpret and Chattermill list Typeform as a source, and native HubSpot, Intercom, Slack and Zendesk integrations cover the common write-backs.
Pricing reality
Checked 3 November 2026 on typeform.com/pricing. The plan cards list, billed annually: Basic $28/month (100 responses a month, 1 user), Plus $56 (1,000 responses, 3 users, branding removal), Business $91 (10,000 responses, 5 users, drop-off and conversion tracking). Monthly billing is $39, $79 and $129. Growth Flow is $266/month annually or $379 monthly after a 14-day trial, with 10,000 responses and 1,500 enrichments. Enterprise and Research Flow are contact-sales. The “compare all plans” table on the same page still shows $25, $50 and $83, so expect to see older numbers quoted; the cards and the page’s structured data agree on the higher ones.
Two limits shape the real bill. Responses are a monthly cap, not an annual pool: add-ons stretch Basic to 750, Plus to 2,500 and Business to 50,000 a month, and past that you talk to sales. And the features a CS team needs sit higher than the entry price suggests. The Salesforce integration is listed on Growth Flow, partial responses on forms with logic need a Growth plan, and SSO, HIPAA and the EU data center are Enterprise-only. Vendr reports an average Typeform contract of $9,448 a year across 97 deals, with about 25% average savings off the first quote. That is the number to budget against for a team that needs Salesforce sync or SSO, not $28.
Best for
CS and CX leads at companies of roughly 20 to 500 employees who run a handful of customer-facing surveys (onboarding, churn reason, feature interest, beta recruitment) where completion rate matters and responses land in HubSpot or a feedback-analysis tool. Business at $91 a month covers most of those teams. Research Flow is worth a demo for a product or CX team that runs fewer than ten customer interviews a quarter because nobody has time to moderate them.
Do not buy it as your NPS or CSAT program. It has no relationship-survey scheduling, no ticket-close triggers, no closed-loop case routing and no benchmarks. Do not buy it if you need 10,000-plus responses a month on a budget, or Salesforce sync below Growth pricing.
Versus the alternatives
- SurveyMonkey — the share leader in self-serve surveys. Pick it when analysis, benchmarks and email distribution matter more than how the form feels; its annual response pools (50,000 a year on Team Advantage) also suit bursty volume better than Typeform’s monthly cap.
- Qualtrics — the program-end leader. Pick it when collection, case management and governance must sit on one contract; expect several times Typeform’s spend.
- Tally — the fastest-growing challenger, bootstrapped to about $5M ARR by its own account and named to G2’s 2026 Fastest Growing list. Its free plan has no response cap and Pro is $29/month. Pick it for internal or low-stakes forms where Typeform’s response caps are the only reason you’d upgrade.
- Google Forms and Microsoft Forms — the volume leaders, already paid for. Pick them for internal questionnaires nobody needs to brand.
- Delighted or Simplesat — pick these when the requirement is a single NPS or CSAT score fired from the help desk.
- Sprig — pick it for in-product surveys triggered by user behaviour.
If none fit, keep the forms you have and point Enterpret at your tickets and call notes first; most CS teams have more unread feedback than unasked questions.
Watch-outs
- The monthly response cap closes forms. Hit the limit and new responses stop until the month resets or you buy an add-on; on a downgrade, Typeform says forms may be closed to new responses. Guard: estimate your peak month, not your average, and set a usage alert at 80% of the cap. If the peak month is above 2,500, price Business, not Plus.
- CRM sync and SSO sit far above the entry tier. A $56 Plus quote fails a “writes to the Salesforce Contact” or “SSO required” requirement. Guard: write those as pass/fail lines in the evaluation and get a Growth or Enterprise quote in the same cycle as the self-serve plan.
- Ownership may change. Bloomberg, citing Il Messaggero, reported in October 2025 that Bending Spoons had bid about $255 million for Typeform, and some deal trackers list the company as acquired. Neither Typeform nor Bending Spoons had announced a closed deal as of 3 November 2026, and Typeform’s own news through July 2026 presents it as independent. Bending Spoons, which completed its Airtable acquisition in September 2026, has a record of repricing and cutting staff at products it buys. Guard: on any contract over one year, cap renewal increases in writing and keep a quarterly export of forms and responses via the Responses API.
- Research Flow pricing is unpublished. It is sold through demos, and plan inclusion is not stated. Guard: ask for a per-study or per-participant price and run one paid pilot study before committing it to a roadmap.
