What it is
Scratchpad is a rep-facing workspace that sits on top of Salesforce. Reps get spreadsheet-style pipeline views, notes templates, bulk field editing and a call recorder, and every edit writes straight back to Salesforce objects. On top of that, AI proposes field updates (Next Step, MEDDPICC fields, close dates, amounts) from calls and emails. It was founded in San Francisco in 2019 by Pouyan Salehi (CEO) and Cyrus Karbassiyoon, and raised a $3 million seed, a $13 million Series A and a $33 million Series B led by Craft Ventures with Accel in January 2022. We found no later round, and no acquisition or wind-down news from the past 12 months. Logos on its site include Brex, Clio, Cognism, Crunchbase, Cursor, Dialpad, MaintainX and Vercel.
The question this page answers: reps won’t update Salesforce. What actually fixes CRM hygiene without buying a full revenue platform? For Salesforce teams, Scratchpad is usually the cheapest serious answer.
Why it shows up in RevOps stacks
- It fixes the friction, not just the data. Most hygiene tools capture activity behind the rep’s back. Scratchpad makes updating Salesforce faster than not updating it: one grid across opportunities, inline edits, a Chrome command bar, and notes that map to fields. Reviewers on G2, where it holds 4.8 out of 5 across roughly 1,500 reviews, mostly praise speed and ease of use.
- AI suggestions stay under admin control. Admins write a prompt per field, pick the objects and user groups, and choose whether each field’s update waits for rep review or applies automatically. Suggestions draw on Scratchpad’s own recorder, Gong recordings, calendar calls and email (synced every four hours). Text, date, number, picklist and multi-picklist fields are supported. Scratchpad claims a 70%+ suggestion acceptance rate across customers; that is a vendor figure.
- It absorbed Dooly’s base. Mediafly bought Dooly and shut it down on 30 June 2025. Scratchpad ran a dedicated Dooly-replacement page and became the default landing spot for those teams. If you were a Dooly customer and stalled on a replacement, this is the like-for-like.
- It now reaches AI clients. Scratchpad’s site lists Clearskies, a context layer that joins CRM, call, email, calendar and Slack data behind an MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT. Its plugin repository sits under Scratchpad’s GitHub organization and was created in July 2026. Clearskies is priced separately, from $12,000 a year for up to 10 people, so it is not part of a Scratchpad seat.
Pricing reality
Prices are published (checked 2026-09-14), with no platform fee, setup cost or seat minimum:
- Free: $0, three views, 10 hours a month of call recording, 100 AI credits per user per month.
- Solo: $19 per user per month billed yearly, $24 monthly. 400 credits per user per month, adds Hygiene Monitor and advanced controls.
- Team: $49 billed yearly, $62 monthly. 800 credits per user per month, plus white-glove help designing and tuning agents.
- Enterprise: quote-only, unlimited credits.
Credits are where the real price hides. A field suggestion from one call costs 1 credit; one drawn from all calls and emails costs 5. A deal question costs 5. On Solo, 400 credits covers 80 multi-call suggestions a month, which a rep with 20 calls a week and five tracked fields burns through in days. Extra credits are sold, but the price is not published.
In practice: a 20-rep team on Team pays about $11,800 a year at list; 50 reps, about $29,400. That is roughly half of Sybill’s $90 Business seat and a fraction of the $1,400–2,000 per seat per year that procurement data reports for Gong. Vendr publishes no Scratchpad transaction data, so treat anything beyond list as negotiable.
Best for
RevOps leaders and front-line sales managers at Salesforce companies with roughly 10 to 300 reps, where the complaint is “reps don’t update opportunities” and the fix you want is adoption, not another dashboard. It fits especially well when managers run weekly pipeline reviews from Salesforce data and qualification fields (MEDDPICC, SPICED) sit empty.
Not for you on HubSpot, Dynamics or Pipedrive: Scratchpad is Salesforce-only. Also not for you if the real gap is email and meeting activity that never reaches the CRM. That is a capture problem, and Scratchpad does not log activity server-side the way Weflow or Einstein Activity Capture do.
Versus the alternatives
- Gong: the category leader by market share. Pick it when recorded calls, coaching and forecasting are the purchase. Pick Scratchpad when the job is getting reps to maintain Salesforce; it also reads Gong recordings, so the two often run together.
- Clari (Clari + Salesloft): the other large incumbent. Pick it when the forecast call is a governed process. We found no forecasting module on Scratchpad’s product pages.
- Weflow: the closest Salesforce-only rival, $19 for activity capture with a 10-seat minimum. Pick Weflow when missing activities are the problem; pick Scratchpad when stale opportunity fields are.
- Sybill: pick it on HubSpot, Zoho or Dynamics, or when the recorder and follow-up email matter more than the workspace.
- Attention: the fastest-growing entrant, quote-only and estimated at $70–140 a seat. Pick it when you want agents that act on deals, not suggest fields.
- Salesforce itself (Agentforce, Momentum): pick native when you already license Agentforce 1 Sales Edition and will configure it.
The direct answer: pilot Team on one team for a quarter and measure the share of open opportunities with a Next Step updated in the last 14 days. Keep it if that number moves. If none of these fit, the problem is process, not tooling. Define required fields per stage first.
Watch-outs
- Credits cap the AI, not the seat. A heavy-call team exhausts Solo credits early in the month and suggestions stop. Guard: in the pilot, log credits used per rep per week, restrict multi-call prompts to the three fields that matter, and get an overage price in writing before you sign.
- Auto-apply writes to your system of record. A bad prompt can overwrite close dates or amounts across the pipeline. Guard: keep amount, stage and close date on rep review, auto-apply only text fields such as Next Step, and turn on Salesforce field history tracking for every field Scratchpad can touch.
- Data leaves Salesforce. Scratchpad runs on AWS in the US via Heroku and sends content to OpenAI and AssemblyAI. It states SOC 2 Type 2 and that customer data never trains models. Guard: get the subprocessor list and a DPA before rollout, and clear EU rollouts with your works council and privacy team.
- Salesforce news lands this week. Dreamforce runs 15–17 September 2026, and by Weflow’s account of a Salesforce webinar, Salesforce called Momentum the future of its call recording and activity capture. Guard: sign annual, not multi-year, until you have seen what ships natively.
